Part 2 of building a design system from scratch using Claude: dark mode! 🌙
On my last post, Phong Designs AI Systems warned me that a color pair can pass in light mode and fail in dark. He was right.
My blue button nearly disappeared on the dark background. So I made the blue lighter. But then my white text on it dropped to about 2:1. So I flipped the text to dark, which brought it to about 8:1. ✅
Fix one thing, break another... 🔨 Which is what building dark mode taught me.
The 😳 part: I didn’t recolor anything by hand. I switched one setting to Dark, and the background, buttons, and text all changed on their own. Amazing and felt like magic 🪄
