“Nancy led visual design to update a global internal site, which made it very difficult for users to achieve their primary purpose: finding the content they need easily and quickly, in as few steps, with as little reading, as possible, without having to comb through lots of irrelevant content across multiple places. Nancy developed an interaction design and visual design that achieved these objectives, and better aligned with the intent and journeys of users (vs just presenting content according to an internally defined structure and expecting people to navigate through it). But where Nancy really stands out is in the way she collaborates. She always has a point of view, but listens to suggestions and is always willing to try them and evaluate whether they work objectively (vs. being precious about initial concepts). Nancy ensured that business stakeholders had input into the evolution of the design, and accommodated many ideas, either by executing them if they worked or interpreting the intent behind them, and finding a better way to execute it. If a suggestion didn't or couldn't work, or would diminish the experience for users in some way, Nancy would appropriately push back to ensure the integrity of the design and experience. Nancy's talent, training in methods, ability to find solutions within rigid limitations of the underlying platform, and open, collaborative approach are a rare combination. I very much enjoyed working with Nancy, and I look forward to working with her again.”
